About the WPCA
Washington Pastoral Counseling Association (WPCA) was founded in 1994 by pastoral counselors in Washington State. We seek to advance and preserve the quality and integrity of our service to all persons of every kind. Thus, we deeply care about the integration of the spiritual dimensions of life with the psychological sciences. We are the only Washington state based group with this focus. We are located in Tacoma, WA.
Mission Statement
WPCA advocates for persons who practice pastoral counseling or who support and affirm this ministry. We:
- Promote the common good of pastoral counselors and their practice in Washington State
- Promote the spiritual, psychological, social, and relational health and well-being of all persons
- Promote professional standards in the practice of pastoral counseling.
- Advocate for keeping maximum responsibility with pastoral counselors and their religious bodies
About Pastoral Counseling
Pastoral counseling is very similar to therapy provided by psychologists, mental health therapists, licensed social workers, etc. Pastoral counselors have additional training specific to supporting clients who wish to explore matters of their spirituality and faith.
