Program Presenters:
Barbara Fischer Barbara Fischer Barbara Fischer, MSW, a marriage and family for 30 years, co-founded and directed the first AAMFT approved Marriage and Family Therapy program in the Northwest, a joint project of Seattle Pacific University and the Samaritan Center. She has trained in the contemplative traditions as a Catholic nun and student of Tibetan Buddhism. A life-threatening illness forced her to close her practice in 2002 and plunged her into an intense “tutorial” in expanded states of awareness and their potential for healing bodies, minds, and our relationships to each other and the earth. In 2009 she founded the School for Mystics to help “closet mystics” share their experiences and learn from others.

Dr. Jerry Smith, S.T.D., a marriage and family therapist for 53 years, has practiced contemplative pastoral psychotherapy from a systems perspective for over 40 years. He teaches the Psychology of Religion and Relationship and Family Counseling at Puget Sound University and co-founded Pastoral Therapy Associates with Terry Gibson, where he practices today. He discovered spiritual consciousness at 4-years old and has been growing into that world of wonder ever since.
