Gottman Method: Helping Couples Manage Conflict & Deepen Intimacy with a Research-based Roadmap

The Washington Pastoral Counseling Association Introduces is pleased to offer continuing education training by Dr. George Brummel on Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Program Purpose:
Help couples in your practice manage conflict and deepen intimacy! This is the first step in learning Gottman Method Couples Therapy. This inspiring workshop uses effective, research-based interventions that give new insights when treating couples experiencing conflict. Based on Dr. John Gottman’s 40 years of research with over 3,000 couples, Dr. Brummel will teach participants a practical and highly effective approach to guiding couples across chasms that divide them. Workshop attendees will learn a research-based roadmap to help couples compassionately manage their conflicts, deepen their friendship and intimacy, and share their lifes’ purpose and dreams, including new assessments and effective interventions to help couples better understand their struggles.


Program Presenter:
Dr. George F Brummel IV, LMHC, SAP, CDP, earned his MA in Christian Ministry and doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Faith International University and Seminary in Tacoma, WA. Dr. Brummel is a licensed mental health and substance abuse specialist who is an Approved Gottman Educator (7 Principles for a Happy Marriage), and has completed Level 3 in Gottman Method Training.

10:15 am – Love Maps (exercises & role play)
11:30 am – Exercises + Open-ended Questions.
Noon – 1.5 hour lunch (included)
1:30 pm – Nurture & Cherishing (exercises)
2:30 pm – Fondness & Admiration (exercises)
3:15 pm – Yield to Win (exercises; game)
4:15 pm – 2 Kinds of Conflict (exercises)
5 pm – Day One Conclusion

9 am – Softening & Repair (role play; exercises)
10:30 am – Distractions; Stress; In-laws
Noon – 1.5 hour lunch (included)
1:30 pm – Money; Chores (exercises)
2:15 pm – Parenting; Sex (exercises)
3 pm – Gridlock; Flooding; Dreams (exercises)
4:25 pm – Meaning; Ritual; Support (exercises)
5 pm – Conclusion
