Sacred … Peaceful … Inspiring … Loving … Transcending … Wonderful … Fantastic … Transforming … Wordless and Holy
These words describe the experience of women who participated in our November 2nd day of sacred theatre, ceremony, Kundalini Yoga / Meditation, SoulCollage & women’s Council.
We invite you to join us once again in re-image-ing and re-claim-ing our Woman’s path in both our under-world times of difficult passage & our ordinary-world daily consciousness.
We will delight in sharing with you an embodiment of the oldest mythic story from the Sumerian times of Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, and her journey to the Underworld to reclaim relationship with her abandoned sister Ereshkigal, Queen of the Underworld. Before she embarks on this perilous journey, she activates the support of her ally, Ninshubur. By story’s end, Inanna’s relationship with herself, Ereskigal, Ninshubur and her elders, her sons, her husband and his sister are transformed.
When Inanna’s story was written, we were on the cusp of the shift from the matriarchal to patriarchal paradigm. We stand again poised at such a juncture as we shift from the ineffective patriarchal paradigm to a new possibility, a new dance … where the energies of sacred feminine & sacred masculine are more harmoniously interwoven and where there is mutual honoring … healing old wounds AND seeding a new vision.
We know that all earth journeys are woven with suffering and the learning that comes thereof. We also know that in the past 4000 years of patriarchy, there has been a devaluing, discounting & even disowning of the feminine perspective. We desire to reclaim the mystery of the underworld journey as a valuable and dynamic transformational tool.
In our day together, we will draw upon the ancient historical version of Inanna’s Journey (Wolkstein & Kramer, Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth) …
* Where we enact this myth that welcomes and en-courage-s our descent to our underworld depths for renewal & regeneration.
* Where we affirm a cyclic descent to underworld depth and a return to everyday life with greater fluidity and ease.
* Where we walk hand in hand with feminine/masculine, inner world/outer world, the yin/the yang.
* Where we live in greater collaboration, communion and cooperation.
We envision this seeding to be a gift for each other and the world.
Flow of the Day
— Our day begins with cultivating our Body/Mind/Soul Presence through Kundalini Yoga, Pranayam (breath play) and Kundalini Meditation (as given by Yogi Bhajan).
— Then, in circle council, we listen to the telling of Inanna’s story as it has come to us from a priestess/poet Enheduanna of 4000 years ago.
— Once we are woven into this saga, we will intuitively select roles and silently enact the journey while a narrator speaks.
— Then, the process of SoulCollage allows us to contemplate and integrate this Mythic Wisdom
through image and intuition.
— When we re-gather into community, we will share our insights in Council.
“I have inherited a belief in community, the promise that a gathering of the spirit can both create and change culture.” —Terry Tempest Williams
